Work will be undertaken to improve the living conditions of the families who benefit from crisis accommodation. Habitat partners with housing providers who deliver a welcoming place for women and children who have experienced and are escaping domestic violence. Crisis accommodations are a safe and welcoming place when a woman decides to leave her partner.

As a volunteer you will help to transform the accommodation to make it a welcoming and respectful place for newcomers. Volunteers have been able to paint the premise and refresh spaces. Staff have mentioned that women have walked in and burst into tears, they start feeling validated and seen for the first time in a while.

Suitable for

Centrelink Volunteers, Groups of 10 or more, Work Experience, Younger volunteers, under 18

Training

Daily safety briefing and instructions

Time required

Activity days for volunteers are held each week. Each day runs from 9am to 4pm. You can volunteer as a one-off or on a regular basis.

Requirements

Volunteers must complete a short, online safety induction prior to their volunteer day. Details to be provided after registration.
